I was under the impression that they started shipping them some time around the beginning of the year, but I could be wrong. I do a search every few months to see if anyone is posting anything on them but the comments are scarce. One thing that I did notice was that it looks like they are not doing anything with the stator(?) which I believe was one of the complaints with the YZ250x version. I think the YZ setup charged the battery while the KDX version is a loss-type system where you have to plug in a charger to charge the battery and you don't replace the stock KDX stator like the Yz did with a Panthera unit. I could be wrong on some of this as I wasn't taking notes.... LOL!! I hear good things about the Fisch units, wish they'd look at the KDX....

Got Woods, you are correct that Panthera sells the KDX 200 / 220 e-start as total loss system. Nothing wrong with that based on my road racing experience. Several guys that beat my ass every race ran total loss ignition. I use a total loss battery on my street legal KDX 220 that powers the LED tail, stop, & blinker lights. The battery is a small NiCad battery that provides 6 to 8 hours of operation. Not electrical, but every two-stroke rider engages in total loss crank lubrication - whether they know it or not. But back to center point, total loss battery on e-start is okay because you'll get 100+ starts per charge. I'm pretty sure I'll get one of the Panthera e-starters for my KDX 220 after injury recouperation allows moto riding again next year.

I realize I'm a little late to the party, just saw Carson's post about his Pantera E-start....DANG! I went straight to the website to buy it...but man, I just can't get past the price tag! haha I was expecting like half that. Hard pill to swallow, but man, that would fix my ONLY complaint about the bike! :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Tyl3r, the Panthera price tag seemed to be too much for me for a long time. Then I looked up the price tags for Rekluse and Hinson clutches. Some KDX riders in the forum have Rekluse clutch. At least one has a Hinson clutch. Even more KTM riders in my geographic region have Rekluse. The pricing parity for the Rekluse clutch and Panthera starter makes the starter a reasonable cost for me.

Looks like Panthera is finally ready to ship these out, I thought they were expected to be ready and shipped earlier this year, haven't heard of anyone other than Carson Brown receiving one. I inquired about one early in the preorder stage and got a email yesterday asking if I was still interested as they had some to ship out, had decided to pass on it, maybe in the future.

It's because of Panthera that I backburnered my e-start. I wish I had kept working on it. Cooler weather is almost here so I can spend more time in the garage so maybe I'll get back on my cheaper, though clunkier, version.

I ordered a Panthera e-start about 6 weeks ago. Maybe I will get one soon.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Make sure you guys give us all the details if you order one... how long to get it, how was it to install, and any problems that arise during install or down the road.

Molly, thx much for sharing that you ordered a Pantera starter. It's anticipated I will, too. But, in my case, it's necessary to complete some present motorbike, car, house, & yard projects beforehand. It'll be 2025 when I order.

Ran across a video from a link off a RMX250 starter kit, another design I believe he did for the KDX, different design with the bendix, but looks like it needs better materials as the pins sheared, on another video looks like he bolted the gear to the flywheel.

I received the Panthera E-start for my 2003 KDX today. Everything came well packed. I did not get the battery for it as I can get one here in town. It took 6-7 weeks to get but ordered Labor Day weekend so that may affect things.

Looks like good quality out of the box. I'll get to this project fairly soon. Guess I should order a battery soon. My motorhead buddy said it looked like good stuff.

Awesome! Please take lots of pics and details of the process. I think it would be a good idea to start a separate thread dedicated to just the Panthera kit.

I don't have a cell phone to take pictures with anymore. I got rid of that coming back from the Mark Twain Forest in Missouri in 1999.
I am probably the only person you know W/O a cell phone. Maybe I could go to Best Buy & find a camera to post pics online.

I don't ride offroad anymore because my body just can't take it. I am turning the bike street legal because I just ride around the neighborhood anymore. I just had DOT approved tires installed. (YUK)
Installing the RMRTV legal kit so I can get it tagged though Dirt Legal.

Hmm, find an old used phone and use it just for the camera feature. You don't have to have cell service to use them for pics or even GPS service. You can normally find them dirt cheap. If you're running a PC you can connect any phone to it. If you have a MAC then find an old Iphone.

About not riding dirt, hey, at least you're still riding and on a KDX! :supz:

Congratulations on getting the kit. Get on eBay and buy an older used digital camera. If you have Facebook, look on Facebook Marketplace. Lots of cameras out there that are more than sufficient to take pictures to post online.

If you want to remove the information from the pictures in Windows:

How to remove image metadata on Windows without an app
Windows allows you to remove EXIF metadata from single or multiple image files. Here are the steps:

Navigate to the folder holding the images you want to edit.
Select the file (or files) you wish to delete metadata from.
Right-click and select Properties, then Details.
Details tab in Windows.
Select Remove Properties and Personal Information.
Click Create a copy with all possible properties removed.
Remove Properties Windows
Select OK and that’s it.
Note that this option will create a copy of the image file with no metadata. The original file will remain intact on your computer. If you’d rather not make a copy and simply scrub the file, choose Remove the following properties from this file in step 3. Then select the items you want to remove individually or click Select All to remove all items, before hitting OK.

One thing we did notice when removing metadata from the original file is that the created date remains, whereas the other option replaces the created date with today’s date. If you want to make sure you remove the created date, you’re better off creating the copied file and then deleting the original.
Thank you for participating on kdxrider.net. :bravo:

I have a new inexpensive camera charging up now. I will get some pictures ready. I'm no photographer, but I'll give it a shot.
