E-series rear caliper piston size

Post by Duper80 »

Hi guys, I recently disassembled my rear caliper to clean and rebuild it but somehow lost the caliper piston , does anyone know for sure if/what other bikes use the same rear piston? Or know the dimensions of it? The oem piston is like $80-$85 canadian with shipping so I'd like to find an aftermarket option, I'm thinking it's around 25mm diameter and 25mm-30mm long?

I think I would just buy a used caliper or check on the price. I know CA dollars don't go as far on dirt bike parts, though.

I deleted my original reply as I found some more options, Click on the application chart for this piston 30mm x 31mm on link below, brings up the E series KDX rear caliper, lots of bike options...

I've already cleaned and rebuilt my caliper so it's ready to go back on just need the piston, if I have to I'll bite the $80 bullet and buy the oem piston but it would be awesome if I could find another bike that uses the same piston so I can buy an aftermarket piston for $20-$30

Yeah that's where I buy most of my oem parts, I'm just trying to avoid paying $80 for just a caliper piston so I'm hoping someone can help with the exact dimensions/size of the piston so I can check if another bike uses the same one, but after doing so much research I'm almost positive it's an e-series specific part because it's not showing up in any of my cross reference searches :hmm:

Yeah, I saw one on eBay that said it was for RM and 1995+ KDX. Sorry to not be of more help. Maybe you will find yours.

Thanks, I ended up finding my spare caliper at my brother’s shop but now I have another “mystery” issue lol.. the rebuild kit I ordered last year has seals that are too small  , not sure why but both the main seal and dust seal diameters were too small to be pressed into the seat/groove so I just cleaned everything up and put it back together with the original seals and… it absolutely will not bleed! Tried the normal way 1000 times, tried back bleeding with a syringe, tried reverse bleeding, even took the caliper off and tried bleeding it while it was higher than the master cylinder, I’m all out of tricks lol

Is the piston moving? Any corrosion inside the bore possibly?
