You know, Nick, my bruther, it would certainly be educational if you pointed all us southerners to some good info on how "you" are doing it. Show us some pics of your set up?

The last thing I tried use electricity for was my moonshine still and it exploded into a million pieces.

Use the Caswell setups for both my Zinc plating, and anodizing. www.caswellplating.com

The anodizing is much more "fun" in my opinion, due to the cool colors you can produce! Lots of information online, and especially on youtube. Cam Neimela has a great video on his setup for his CR250 build. My setup is quite similar, albeit with a little more "structure" to it. His video is here:

The anodizing process is very similar to the electroplating, once you're setup for one, the other is easy to get into with just a few different chemicals.

Here are some oil dipsticks I did for a car club of mine, made them myself with my lathe, then etched and anodized them to showcase some of the color possibilities!

Here's a billet air filter knob I whipped up on the lathe. Did a large style and a small one, for each of my KXF's. The green anodizing looks great and is durable.

You could do some custom air filter knobs for the KDX and sell them here like hot cakes I bet. I hate that cursed oem wingnut! I’d like a large blue one! Beautiful build btw.

You really think they'd sell?

The downside to the large one is its pretty hefty. It's solid 6061. Not sure if that would put any stress on the airbox long term, but the smaller one is still plenty grippy and much more satisfying to use than the stock wingnut. The threaded section is pretty universal, I think most any bike is M6, just would cut it to the proper length.

I don't have an indexing head or collet block (yet) for my milling machine, so I decided to cut that knob out of hex stock so I could index it for the finger "notches". Hex stock is expensive, but if there's sufficient interest, I'll invest in the tooling to do those out of round. Alternatively, I could do the knurled finish on a larger knob. PM me if you'd like something made!

Here's the smaller one installed on the KXF. The gold color I'm not thrilled with, was just experimenting.

After careful consideration of your remarks and reviewing the pix, I see your points. Probably, the smaller knob would be better for the reasons you stated. If you did a small gross of these, what would you price them at? I’d think the ano purple or blue would be hot.

I was also wondering if you could produce a front axel puller? 😀

I could do up some anodized air filter bolts for probably $30 apiece off the top of my head if there’s enough interest. Anodized any colour you want. As for the axle pull sure, I can build basically anything if I’ve got the dimensions.

I have seen axel pulls for the KDX out there, but don’t have a design for one. Maybe I could look around and draw something up. Bet we could get Fredette to carry them if you wanted to produce a run.

Another thing that would be cool would be a wheel spacer for the speedo delete. Zeta used to make one, but it’s no longer available.

I’ll talk to some of my local KDX buddies and see if I can put an order together for the air cleaner knobs. $30 seems fair, they look great!

I have a set of stock forks laying around here somewhere. What’s the point of an axle pull anyways? Somewhere to grab onto if the bike is stuck?

It makes the axel easier to pull when changing a flat. Helpful for racing ISDE and when trail riding deep in the sticks.

Man this build is so nice! I am working through a new to me 2001 220 now. It’s my daughters new bike. Did you wind the lighting coil yourself? I am interested in doing that upgrade and from what I know it’s pretty easy.

Dupli-Color engine enamel. Dries hard as a rock once you bake it.
