Broken Top Shock Mounting Bolt
So I begin the process of fixing up a 1986 Kdx barn find. Unfortunately this is what I came across when I removed the tank and seat. It appears as though the top shock mount is broken. Has anyone else dealt with this issue or know what kind of parts I will need to source to begin fixing? I have the service repair manual and diagrams at my disposal.

Nothing appears to be broken except for the shoulder bolt that passes through the spherical bearing in the shock. They are known to wear and last I looked they were difficult to find. A parts diagram will show you the bolt and nut you are missing.

Excellent. Yes, the bolt certainly is hard to track down. I’ve only found one in Australia, and they don’t ship to Canada. Guess I’ll keep on searching. Thanks for the help.

This one?

The rocker arm looks like the hole is worn out (oblong). Where are the seals for the top of the shock??

Ooo thanks for the link. That is a extremely helpful. Ugg, the bike seems to have been ridden in this condition for a while so I don’t think the seals for the top of the shock are there.
