Re: OE Style or Air Striker
I bought the Tusk kit with the air and idle screw. The air screw fit fine, but the idle hits the gas line and I didnt like where it was so I havent used it. Agree with the AS, tho its much easier to fine tune from the seat.

Re: OE Style or Air Striker
I'm curious where you got your 'extended finger airscrew' and which one is it. Could you include a picture of it mounted on your carb? Thanks!Goat wrote: ↑11:08 pm Aug 07 2020 Very cool !! Glad you liked it. I just installed the extended finger airscrew on mine since realizing what a small dif can make it pull like mad at any elev. (I ride 200 - 1800 at the ORV park). Mine runs great at home & good even if I never touch it.
But it runs great wherever I am if I give it that little girl tiny twist when we are on one of higher trails.
Someday I’ll ride often enough to remember in or out, without having to think about it.

That does look good, though.
Throw some electrical tape on that stator wire / ignition junction.

Re: OE Style or Air Striker
So much for that gadget. I love using it. But It was not compatible with my riding style. I’d not risk my $380 carb by trying to straighten it. But will probabaly buy another one if I learn how to keep the rubber down, or want to hunt the 2SS. Wish it had a little shorter stem.

Re: OE Style or Air Striker
What is the general consensus on the air striker vs non debate? Does the KDX just not like the air striker carb, or is the RB one that much better? Trying to figure out what direction I am wanting to go because I need to get at least one carburetor for my bikes as weird as that sounds.
From this thread it seems that its worth the price for the RB carb, but what exactly is he selling here? A mod or two to the pilot circuit and a divider plate? Jetting is pretty set in stone at this point with these bikes, so its not like he is selling miracle brass.
Thinking about getting a new 35 for my 200, but I had planned on going to the airstriker. I ride a lot of 2-4 gear stuff, not much high speed desert anymore. Might not bother if the OE style is 'better' or at least not much worse.
What would YOU do?

Re: OE Style or Air Striker
Ron does several mods to the standard carb. Boring, divider, and internal circuit mods. Unless you rode a bike with one you won't believe the difference over a non-modified version. Now, the AS carb is good, and a lot less finicky about jetting over the standard PWK, but I would still choose the RB carb any day. Don't know for sure if Ron is even still selling them though. If you can't get an RB carb then I would definitely go with the latest AS version.
On jetting, well, you can have two identical bikes, at the same elevation, and they could want different jetting so it's not so cut and dry. Always go through the steps to really dial in your jetting because, if you don't, your losing easy power and fuel mileage gains.

Re: OE Style or Air Striker
On my 200, I have always had pretty good jetting. Contrary to most forms of thinking, I dont think I have ever changed my jetting to ride at other elevations and never had any spooge or even residue on the rear fender. Bike has always been super clean. Except that it has a #5 slide still. Working on getting a 7 for both it and the hybrid 220 to make the idle work and get a little snappier response, per this forum, again, thank you!SS109 wrote: ↑10:49 pm May 29 2022 Ron does several mods to the standard carb. My 07 KXF would whine about the angle of the sun when it came to jetting. Everyone ran 42 pilots, that bike had to have a 40. Thats just one thing. Never four stroking again.
The carburetor on the Hybrid 220 is bored(36) and has a divider @dicksracing, its okay still, I wouldnt say it made a huge difference, but that motor is also ported and head cut(RB) and I guess the jetting is just all wrong. I guess I am seeking answers to a question that should probably be its own thread for that bike and I am also thinking throwing a slide and new carb at it might just fix all my problems. Makes me mad I spent 300 bucks having the carb worked over.
Thanks for the insight!
