Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
You're gonna' love them. One tip, your KDX front brake caliper will probably bolt right up allowing you to reroute the brake line so it no longer goes under the fork. You'll have to fabricate a mount for the KDX brake line clamp onto the fork guard. I tried a couple of different ideas but finally settled on a piece of aluminum "L" stock from Lowe's. Cut to length, drill holes and mount. Works perfectly. I rivited mine to the fork guard with aluminum rivets from the back side of the fork guard so it wouldn't scratch up the forks.

Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
The forks are from 2000. The rim and wheel assy is 1997. I thought they’d be a married set. But oh well.
Plus you will note a fresh set of seemingly straight protaper handle bars.....that might take some getting used to.
Doakley, I suspect you already posted your fancy bracket, but if you don’t mind posting again or directing me to a photo I’ll give it a shot.
I have been accused of using my daughter’s bicycle parts to make blower carb linkage mate up (of course not true) so a Lowe’s bracket might be a little hi-brow.
I was kind of interested in why they’d go under instead of using the kdx-style caliper. Is there a reason the lower one has any MX benefit?

Ha! That is crazy (like a fox). I had no idea TY. On side note one of the articles said it is same reason nobody could compete with Honda on 3-wheelers. They patented the proper engine location somehow.

Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
Then just cut off a piece long enough to fit the little Kawi clamp. Drill holes in the "L" stock piece to allow for rivets and to mount the Kawi brake line clamp. I rounded the edges of the "L" bracket piece on a bench grinder to eliminate sharpe corners and edges (for my hands when doing maintenance and washing the bike!)
Using a pop rivet tool and aluminum rivets (aren't they all?), rivet the bracket to the fork guard from the BACK side of the guard so no rivets scrape along your forks as they move.
This has lasted for about a year or so through the National Enduros and some local HS races.
Alternative is to find some fork guards that have the brake cable holder already molded in place and can be modified to fit the KX forks. I didn't find any.
Done!

Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
Thanks Doak for that crummy picture ......that reminded me I had seen something like it before. There’s a perfect shot of it on pg4 of your KDX National Enduro topic. Very slick. I’ll work on copying.

Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
Well, I better get prepped. My parts made it to RB, today. And I was thinking USPS was sending me text to say they arrived.
Nope! He’s shipping them back, tomorrow.
So I swapped the tire and it even seems to hold air. Should know for sure in the morning.
Now, I gotta dig through my spare metals bin to see if I have the makings for a fancy brake line bracket to match the Doakley clamp.

Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
exciting isn't it? I remember the period when I was getting my fork conversion together, the donor bike, the disassembly, and all that good stuff. Things actually took about 3 years due to set backs, but when it finally started, things went well. That final period was about 6 months but some of that was on me.
anyhoo,CONGRATS!!!!! it won't be long and that KDX will feel different-

Re: Joining the Club (KX125)
This is pretty cool.
Plus I may not even need a trip to Lowe’s. I have found a fine selection of bracket candidates, and even looks like I have the one for direct copy of Doak. It has even been rivet tested for some reason I can’t recall. Probably just showing my kid how to use the pop gun.

There you go! You should be able to fabricate up something from all that.
