Looking for a Hybrid to test

Post by doakley »

Hey, Gang! I’m looking for a KDX/KX Hybrid for a comparison test. Objective will be to compare a nearly stock bike to a “race modified” version to a full blown Hybrid. I would need an excellent example of a Hybrid in top condition. The other two bikes I have in mind are in top condition so I’m looking for a likewise Hybrid.

The comparison will be presented here and possibly submitted to a few print magazines as well. Prefer a bike in the Southeast US but would consider almost any East to Midwest location.

Reach out here if interested. Or PM me.

Too bad I'm so far away, I'd be happy to loan mine.

Yeah, we’re about as far apart across the country as you could get! It could be an interesting article though you have to admit.

Texas may be too far for you...but you can ride mine anytime. I consider it in the demographic you are looking for. I may be a little biased. smiley emoji sort of thing

Are you anywhere near Tennessee? My hybrid is an 03 Kx125-220 engine w/ RB mods. I've never ridden a stock KDX, so I'd be interested to know your findings. It's my enduro and hare scramble bike, so not a showpiece but in good repair.

We'd just have to stay socially distant...

Hey, Paul. TN is a pretty wide state. Are you eastern or western TN. I have a home in West Jefferson, NC so eastern TN is certainly doable.
It would have to be after travel restrictions are lifted though.

I'm near Nashville, so middle TN. I would certainly be up to meeting halfway if we could find a place to ride/event that was convenient.

Surely KDX testing is considered an activity of vital national interest in these unprecedented times?

Spoken like a true dirt bike guy! Once this COVID thing is a little behind us, I’d be willing to find a place we could meet up too. Maybe something in the Atlanta area?

Well, what became of this was I had a rather bad crash in August 2020 which put me in hospital for a total of 32 days. I'm back to limited, easy trail riding now but the racing is over. Still, I would be interested in putting together a comparison test, maybe later this spring or summer.
I still think it would be an interesting write up.

Yeah, bad crashes will definitely put the damper on plans. Keep healing up!
