Whose steel KIPS valves do people prefer?
Hello! I have 1993 KDX200 that I would like to get some steel KIPS valves for. I searched and see that motoduro and bdk both offer KIPS sets. In the post searches I see both are being used but I haven't seen anything about a preference between the two. The motoduros are $100 UK pounds and the BDKs are $145UK. Does anyone have a preference? Thank you!
Lead me not into temptation, but point me to it instead.

Welcome to kdxrider.net.
I had never heard of motoduro. I wonder who was first, them or BDK.

My understanding is that Motoduro has old OEM stock, not steel valves. BDK makes steel valves that are not OEM.

I heard about both of these manufacturers from searching this forum:

Re: Whose steel KIPS valves do people prefer?
I personally would trust the BDK's over the Motoduro versions. Why? The BDK valves are made from a grade of steel, EN24T, specifically used in the making of components like KIPS valves. Plus, BDK has been at this a while and has a proven track record. It would be worth the extra cost IMO.
The Motoduro versions are made from some unknown type of stainless steel. Some stainless steels can result in galling with aluminum. I don't know, maybe their version is great and you would have no problems."EN24T / 817m40. EN24 is usually supplied in the T condition with a tensile strength of 850/1000 N/mm2.
EN24T steel is a popular grade of through-hardening alloy steel due to its excellent machinability in the "T" condition. EN24T is used in components such as gears, shafts, studs and bolts, its hardness is in the range 248/302 HB. EN24T can be further surface-hardened to create components with enhanced wear resistance by induction or nitriding processing."

Well, it's gotta be stronger than the soft aluminum the OEM KIPS valves were made from!

You’re right. But if I was gonna spend money might as well get steel right?

No doubt and especially for the reasons I stated above.

One stainless steel product thats quite strong are Buchanan spokes. But yes stainless deck screws I’ve used aren’t

There are quite few types of SS. 304, 316, 317, 410, 420, 430, and 434. All have their own unique alloy makeup, properties, and uses.
