Sweet..I have a gear calculation program that I've been working on off and on for the last couple years. I've spread it around to a few people, just so damn large to email.

Was yours written with html only? I write all mine in VB, but I'm only a beginner. I've written several(database type programs) for our company that we use on a daily basis.

anyway..cool prgm :mrgreen:

Hey Inda;
how about a modification so that I can plug in my ratio and the amount of oil I have left over so I know how much gas I can mix up.

Sometimes I have a few ounces of oil left over but can't figger out how much gas I'll be able to mix it up with.

to find the amount of gas to use with a set amount of oil :

there is 128oz in 1 U.S. gal

so...

oil in oz (x) ratio / 128

example:

4oz x 42 / 128 = you need 1.3 gal of gas.
:mrgreen:

So my kdx tank is 2.9 gal empty and i want to mix in the tank at a local gas station at the Hatfield and McCoy trails in Wv.

To mix to a ratio of 42 i need (128x2.9) / 42 = 8.8 oz of oil
I probably would put in 9oz and that would make it 41.2 :1

I've been working this out for a while also because i am planning a trip to Wv. next week and wanted to have pre portioned containers of oil so i didn't have to carry a a lot of extra crap on me or my bike.

I plan on carrying 32oz of extra fuel mixed and a 12-16oz of oil with a 35cc syringe i borrowed :twisted: from work.

1oz = 29.5cc

so no bulky ratio rite and no guessing.

Its also nice to know so you don't have to mix up 5 gal of fuel when you can only ride like 30 - 40 miles a week. I've been reading that fuel and oil mix starts to break down fairly fast and you should only mix what you can burn???

Regards
Sean

Never thought I'd EVER say anything positive about 'metric'.......

but liters and milliliters IS easier....if you can't use Inda's program!

Just use the calculation of 1000 ml, instead of 1 liter....and even I can figure it out.

I usually pumps in about 7liters (1.8-2.0 gallon) of gas into my 97 KDX220...so how much 2T in milliliters should I be adding into the bike?

Using Maxima fully Sync 2T oil.

Local mech advise me 1 liter of gas, 15ml of 2T...would that be ok?

1 litre (1,000 ml) of gas to 15ml of oil - that would result in a ratio of 67:1

Personally, that is a little too short of oil for me!! However, I am not familiar with your brand of oil.

:neutral:

EDIT: Maxima's website recommends 40:1
