1989 kdx200 rear wheel issue
So all the spokes are seized on my rear wheel 1989 kdx200. I am new here and have searched but could not find definitive answers. If I buy an excel spoke kit I will need to drill the wheel for the larger o.d. nipples correct? would I benefit from buying a new wheel tusk, excell, warp9? is it easy to drill the holes and does anyone know the correct size?

Forget the Excel spokes. Buy from http://www.buchananspokes.com/. They will make them in any diameter you want in chrome or stainless steel.

Re: 1989 kdx200 rear wheel issue
I looked at Buchanan Spokes when I was building my wheels, but I couldn't get the color options I wanted from them. I have heard a lot of good things tho.
I used http://www.prowheelracing.com/ for my spokes and nipples. I bought the double butted steel spokes for higher strength over the stainless spokes. On the front wheel, I had to drill out the holes in the hub. For the rear wheel, I needed to enlarge the holes in the rim. The amount of material I had to remove was very minimal. The process was very simple though, I didn't have any trouble... just as long as you have a pretty good set of bits (lots of sizes to get close to what you need). Going into the holes was easy too, the bit basically just followed the path of the existing hole.
I was skeptical at first too, but it wasn't bad at all.

So I e-mailed Pro-wheel. They sent a reply stating that they had no products that would fit my application 1989 kdx200??
I am leaning towards excel spoke kit with tusk 2.15x18 black impact wheel I just don't know if they'll fit the rim without enlarging the nipple holes for the 8.5mm excel nipples. I also contacted Buchannon spoke and they have not gotten back to me.

Why not use an Excel rim with Excel spokes? I actually switched from a 2.15 rear back to a stock size 1.85 because the bike turned better.

Stock rear wheel is an Excel, so there 18" spoke kit should work.

They said I would have to drill the o.e.m. rim to accept the larger O.D. spoke nipple. I guess that's not a big deal, I was considering getting a Tusk Impact 18x2.15 I was unsure if the rim accepts the excel spokes or would I need to enlarge those holes as well?? I e-mailed tusk and asked this or if they had spokes that were 188-190mm like the stock o.e.m. appear to be and they did not respond nor did rocky mountain. I could just use the stock wheel as it appears to be un dented, but how can you pass up a nice new rear black wheel if I'm going to re-lace anyways it may as well look good when done as opposed to the 27yo wheel. so does anyone have experience with tusk impact wheel with excel spoke combo??? otherwise I'm just going to use the original wheel with the excel spoke kit xs9-21187 as I put the cart before the horse and already replaced the wheel bearings in the hub not realizing what a holy **** show the wheel could turn out to get figured out. Thanks for all everyone's advice and thoughts. It is getting painful as time goes by and I all of a sudden see cheap good shape kdx's in the craigslist ads. I am going to be into this bike for around 1300.00. That does include rebuilt rear shock, and I do love wrenching on it, and that's not too bad considering the list of new parts is pretty extensive and all bikes will need some amount of $ thrown at them before they are really ride able for a new owner. Who wants used grips and bars , brakes, bearings, chain and sprockets, cables and tires any ways when those items are new the bike operates as new anyways. ( justified expenses... lol)
