kdx 200 sm wheels

Post by djbennyblitz »

Hi im looking in to getting a set of wheels to use on the road so I can have proper road tyres on I have a 1990 Kdx 200, before I go buy a second set of identical wheels I would like to know my options as this would be a good time to maybe consider some super moto style wheels
I under stand you can get standard hubs and get the laced on some nice rims but what about all these drz 400 wheels or ktm ones has anyone tryed making these fit as they already look the part!

Cheers

Just about anything CAN be done. Issues you will have are bearing inside diameter to fit the axle. Wheel
spacers to get it centered and brake rotors offset to fit the calipers. Rear wheel chain alignment too.
I went with stock wheel hubs and had new spokes laced to new rims. Plug and play with the added
benefit that I can put the stock dirt wheels back on in 10 min. For a pic search "KDX240SM"
Just my personal preference.
Cheers.

if you can't find a direct fit, buy a second set of stock and put distanzias on them. much easier, and the geometry will be proper, turn in ease, all that stuff will feel RIGHT instead of wonky.

from a guy with a hooligan mod'd drz, still a BLAST but just a little bit off 8-)

yeah, putting super retard rims on a KDX is a waist of a good KDX

you'd be much better off getting a second set of rims and putting some decent tires on there
still looks off but not nearly as silly as running 14 inch rims

plus, stock rims with street (or dual sport) tires maintain a much more common gear ratio which makes change overs so much the easier

on a side note, I have a plated KDX with a deep sand front tire and a kenda trakmaster on the rear
the trakmaster is a DOT tire but has a full knobbie design and it does just fine on the road
only when the tarmac is really wet the rear end sometimes side steps when you accelerate through a turn
