I'm considering having surgery to repair a torn labrum in my shoulder.

Was curious if anyone has had this surgery done.

If so, would u recommend it?

What was the good, bad, ugly?

Lessons learned?

Anything that helped u to prepare before surgery or post surgery? (For instance, I'm told that pre PT is as important as post PT for this surgery).

How was the recovery period? Physical therapy?

Thx for any thoughts.

I had mine done. Torn labrum, bone impingement, and torn bicep tendon. Long story short, it was worth it. I went from not being able to lift my arm over my head to being stronger than ever.

The best advice I can give you is do your PT like it is your job. Listen to your physical therapist and do your homework in addition to going into the PT office. PT was painful for me, but I have a very active life and knew I wanted it back! The first week of recovery was tough. I spent it icing religiously and used an ice circulating machine. After 3 months, I was getting closer to normal.

Best of luck.
