Thanks Nick! I am late addition to the race club, and am solidly holding up the bottom end of Maters class this year. I so want you to be right, that I will take it as gospel until i can't make it to race day.
I would like to think its good training for my balance and agility. For sure it's improving my dead-lift PB.
Next year goal = lean angle > 5-deg.

Agree with the ‘it takes longer to heal’ theme. Passed on a high log maneuver yesterday that was blocking the greasy/steep hill climb I came out there to ride. I could envision it, but looked like a leg trap if I didn’t get it right and there was no cavalry within miles. Sometimes the ride around is the better option for long and healthy life!

Man it feels good to be back! The 2007 (with the black rims) still needs the RaceTech suspension, so I've only ridden it this once so far, but got it nice and broken in. Great days with the fellas!

That jump is only about 100’ or so. Anything will fly if you go fast enough!

Haha even still, I hit the sweet spot of the landing and there was tire marks on the bottom of my fenders! Probably about as big of a jump as I’d want to do on a bike that heavy.

Sure why not? This definitely is not the intended use for this bike, but it’s a safe jump that I’ve hit hundreds and hundreds of times with a steep landing, and I wanted to get the KDX out and dust it off since I never ride it much anymore. It handled it fine, although it used alllll of the suspension travel! :supz:

NICE NICK!!!!

Our hare scramble this weekend included a very fun motocross track. It’s nothing like you ride, definitely geared more for woods riders, but I’ve raced on it twice before and am somewhat familiar. Coming out of the woods I blitzed the whoops (okay they are junior-sized!), nailed the 180 degree sandy berm (felt like a pro!), and then just GAVE HER THE BEANS over the jumps (all oriented up the hill) and it felt great! Safely made the gaps, nice landings and then on on one of the last ones I messed up and landed waaay nose-down and thought I was going to be a smoking hole in the ground, but ol’girl with her old school forks did me right and we didn’t eat $&#@!

I shook my head and bypassed the next jump, but nailed the next three! Dang that was fun! If any pix show up I’ll post them.

It can be super fun once you're "in the groove" and feeling flowy! Probably why I have tended toward motocross in the recent years over woods riding. I feel like there's more skill advancement in motocross, for example if there's a tricky corner or obstacle on a track, you need to learn to hit it properly, because you're going to have to deal with it on each subsequent lap. In woods riding, if there's an obstacle that you bobble, I feel like it's okay because you may never see that thing again, so you just move on.

That being said, I definetly think that my skills in the woods have deteriorated, I should really get back out there. Motocross teaches you to look WAY farther ahead for example, when you're at speed on a section. Can't really do that in the tight trees where the next root, rock, or turn is a mere 10' in front of you!
