Hi all, thought I'd sign up and show you my bike.

Image

After cleaning it up I got on to what needed attention - mainly just a sticky throttle, weak brakes and leaking fuel tap, not too bad so far.

I knew I'd need to check the engine, especially the KIPS valves but only got as far as removing the lefthand cover when I found the first issue, lots of oily muck in the cover due to the almost non-existent crank seal.
So that is where I'm at, I have a full seal kit and will throw new bearings, rod, piston and rings in it and probably some new powervalves I imagine

Welcome to kdxrider.net!

Thanks for signing up and posting pics of a bike many of us have never seen. It looks good!

Check to see if the three indentations behind the stator plate are leaking.

Welcome and congrats on the new bike. We didn't get the SR in the states, so we are always happy to see one surface and see whats the same/different/unique, etc.

It's an interesting one for sure, USD forks, metal tank, oil injection, 28mm carb, no battery but all the lights, pillion footpegs...
They weren't sold here either but we have a big used import industry with vehicles from Japan so a few made it over, not many though.

Finding a matched pair of road legal tyres has been tricky, mostly with the 19" rear, there isn't much of a market here for them. Finally found the Michelin Trackers which seem to fit the bill.

I have the Japanese owners manual for the bike (in Japanese of course :) ) if anyone needs any info

Such manual talk needs to take place off of this site. Please leave kdxrider.net out of such things. Thanks!

Lots of service and owners manuals available for the SR's on yahoo japan auctions.
The wiring diagram is the same as the KDX200F1

If it is a real, non-copyright infringed one, then sell away.

I wish they would offer legal downloads since they aren't even selling them.

G’day Hi-def, nice looking bike not much too do cosmetically, I have the same model but 91 Australian spec so conventional forks like Rob although inverted forks are on the list. Looking forward to watching your journey, oh and welcome to the foot in mouth manuals club 😂

Cheers!
I have just heard that I have approval to register this for road use, my plans were on hold as I didn't want to get too far in before finding out if I could use it in the way I want i.e. riding it to local trails.
I have found some dual purpose tyres which tick the boxes, Michelin Tracker - dot approved, 19" rear, not bad reviews for dirt use just need some new brake lines then I'll be set

I have started servicing the KDX ready to be inspected for road use.
It needed new tyres, they had to be approved for road use so I bought some Michelin Trackers
Image

The fork seals were also leaking so I put a new set in, I just need to pick up some new oil for them.
