KDX250SR Build JDM 1192

Post by Broady Auto »

I am in the process of dismantling KDX250SR 1992 jAp import - Frame Number DX250E-009607
My questions

1./ Going by the research the Pistons are specific for these models - Are there any aftermarket ones available - and does SR mean that it is a JAp import or ar ether two types of SR
2/ What is the Standard bore size a quick measure I got 67.25 - just with digital vernier i will measure correctly later - I will need a NEw piston Rings and Top End gasket set
3/ Are these Nikasil or different type of plating
3/ What is involved in removing OIl Injection - is it just a natter of unbolting and making up a plate to suit - this mix oil in petrol
4/ If I remove injection - does anybody know if a std KX250 throttle cable of that era
5/ Anybody have LH side Radiator shrouds . Radiator Grill both sides and LD Side Plate available
6/ I have been supplied links to Jap arst Websites - Anybody have a Workshop Manual available for these to get clearances - torque reading etc
7/ Will a KDX Top end gasket kit suit this model
8/Will KX250 38mm Inlet boot suit for larger carby
9 The KIPS Valve dust boot , looks like this is no longer available 49006-1202 any other options

From the Impex site, it looks like a standard piston from a dirt KDX250, 13001-1345. Wiseco used to make one.

Be sure to make sure the cylinder can use a stock sized piston or get the correct one for a sleeved cylinder if that is what you have.

The stock cylinder would have an Electrofusion coating, which is similar to Nikasil or plating / plated. It was not sleeved or iron / steel when new.

Can you post pictures?

An inside micrometer or bore gauge would be the tools one would need to measure the ID of a cylinder.

Thanks, I know how to measure the bore and piston , I have the internal and external micrometer. I just need the specs to compare against , just quickly check the bore size is 67.25mm, the piston has a b stamped on it,
