With a 140 fitted to the 4.25" rim there is less than 1/4" clearance to the chain

You may want to fab up a shield, that chain is going to make contact with the rubber being that close. Middle of the span you can easily get 5mm of lateral play. Better to rub a replaceable shield than your tire.

Don't worry, I have a guard I'm in the process of fitting. The factory item interfered with the rim so had to be removed but having a guard is a requirement for the road worthiness checks it needs every 6 months :)

Love it, looks awesome!

I was able to get a TM Design chain slider on my KTM that has a rub guard built in to protect the chain/tire. I don't think they make those for the KDX's, but I'm sure you could build a guard up that would share the chain slider holes if you wanted to.
