how do you get rid of our own unneeded posts so the site doesn't get cluttered ?

you don't really.. Someone might have the same problem or question that's in your old posts and will always be good reference.
Unless its a double post :p ... i would just leave it for future ref..

If your post is the only one in the thread, you can delete it. If there are replies, you can't, and shouldn't. As noted, the forum is sort of an archive of posts. Someone searching for a similar issue may run across your old post and need it. The only threads that "prune" or delete old posts, are the classifieds sections. :)
