Air Cleaner -missing parts-
Hi erveryone,
at my bike the parts of the air cleaner in the red circle are lost… do i must have them? These parts are quite expensive in my area. Do you think i could substitute these parts with something else? Or probably just leave them?
My other question is, is it ok to simply wash the cleaner inlet in the blue circle? Its looking good so far…
Would be great to read your thoughts on that.

Re: Air Cleaner -missing parts-
You do not need the lid or snorkel to run your bike. Many people remove them to get better performance. You may need to rejet for running without them, but it will not hurt anything. The part circled in blue is the air filter and does need to be cleaned and lubricated regularly. They make specific wash/oil products, or you can just clean it using kerosene and oil it with 2T oil.

Look for "foam air filter oil" from a motorcycle shop. You should have Silkolene, Motul and others.

Your previous owner saved you the trouble of doing the famous ‘KDX airbox mod’.
Have fun!

Re: Air Cleaner -missing parts-
Most remove the lid and snorkel to gain more power. I know I removed them on both of my KDX's.

Re: Air Cleaner -missing parts-
Do not attempt to close the hole any. If you ever insist on re-installing these parts, I have 2 of each like new in my toolbox that I removed from my and my buddies bikes when they were only weeks old. You are welcome to them, but you are better off without them.

Re: Air Cleaner -missing parts-
I will go against the grain and say take up the offer of the airbox lid and snorkel, they make a huge difference in slippery conditions making the engine more tractable, exactly as Kawasaki engineers designed it for lol. Air filter is also same as klx250, I bought OEM as the after market filters fell apart in the hot humid country I live in

I have a spare snorkel if you need one, but no lid unfortunately.
