Actuator Cover Gasket… confusion!
Had a spooge mess coming from around the exhaust valve boot, thought I’d look into it since I’m doing some other work. I have not removed the ‘righty-loosey nut’ yet. I have the Cyclepedia manual! When I went to remove it, with 10mm wrench, it rounded the nut. And the tiny Phillips head screw that holds the shaft at the bottom, it’s stuck too. So right now I can’t replace the oil seal or the boot, and can’t find the housing gasket required…
When I pulled this actuator cover off I realized I would need a new gasket…
I’ve combed through the parts catalog online and can’t find the gasket or even this cover! I have a new rubber boot though. Yech. What causes this stuff to come out at the bottom, is this sign of an issue or just normal operation? Does anyone have a picture of the page that shows this gasket?
Thanks as always for your help!

GASKET,RH,COVER #11060-1629
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Re: Actuator Cover Gasket… confusion
There it is! Don’t know why I couldn’t see it.
Well, I used a small vise grip to loosen the screw at the base. How does that shaft come loose? The manual doesn’t cover this evolution either. Do I have to remove the 10mm nut that I stripped first?

Re: Actuator Cover Gasket… confusion
Wrench meaning open end wrench??
Hold the rod still with a wrench / pliers / something when loosening the nut. Moving the shaft too far breaks the pin inside.
The clutch cover and shaft come off together.
There are about a jillion old posts you can dig through.

Re: Actuator Cover Gasket… confusion
KDXGARAGE, I know the clutch cover and actuator shaft come out together, I’ve done that fifty times. The RH Exhaust Actuator Valve Cover that slides over the actuator boot is what gave me a fit. The righty-loosen 10mm nut rounded out when I held the shaft as instructed with the open end wrench. Little bastard is going to stay there for awhile too. Can’t get to it with a socket unless I move the radiator. May take vise-grips and heat to get that one.
I ordered some fresh parts and will deal with it down the road. I repaired the gasket for now and reassembled. Once I get my clutch lever / clutch actuator mod project finished I’ll come back to this.

Heat the nut, then 6-point wrench
