The top end rebuild is overdue but thankfully not too late. This is why you replace the stock piston. It’s cracked on 3 sides. I don’t know the exact hours but the bike is a 2001 KDX 220. Disaster narrowly avoided.

Congratulations on getting it swapped out. I have read on Jeff Freddette's website in 2008 about the cracks on the OEM piston, but I think it is past time for about all the stock pistons, as the last model was a 2005. So, that is 17.5 - 25.5 years old, depending on which year model one has.
