carb boot issue

Post by tucker »

Not sure if anyone has had a similar issue. I have a Boyesen Rad Valve on my KDX and for the life of me cannot seem to get the carb boot to attach to the carb perfectly. What I mean by this is that on the boot-carb attachment point (the rounded air intake side of the carb), no matter how I seem to hook it up, it will not sit flush on the kickstarter side of this attachment point. It's not terrible, like I doesnt leak air or anything, but I'd like to have a flush connection.

I did replace my throttle cable and got the routing stuffed up a bit, so perhaps that is causing some issue?

What I have done is attach first at the rad valve, tighten a bit, then carb side, then snug it all up.

Any suggestions on what I may have wrong? Thanks

Which exact year and model of KDX do you own?? Is it one that came with an oil pump? Does a J model have the oil pump?

Haha! A day ahead we are. It's the H model, 2006 200. No oil pump. Is J model specific to Aus/NZ?

AUS is the only place that I can remember off the top of my head with the "J". ......

.....I looked it up. J1 (1997) through J4 (2001). I am not sure on countries. I know it was not sold in the USA. I don't think EU or UK got it either.

Not sure where all they sold this one: KDX220-B1 (1994) through KDX220-B4 (1997) and KDX220-B5 (1999) (no VIN, Frame Number)

Looking again, I do think it is "AU" only for the "J" model.

Hard to see , but the connection not sitting flush is lower right and underside of the carb boot to carb attachment.

Sorry I got delayed on posting.

I'd try to loosen the clamp and squeeze the airbox boot to make it extend a touch more. Otherwise, I would just try to live with it. :-)

Yeah, I don't really see any problem there.
