picture needed of kips valve assembly

Post by Two_stroke_brit »

Hi all , i got a 98 220r kdx in boxes,
and stripped the top end to change piston out and check the power valves.
well before i disassembled it i was rotating the actuating gear and watching the valve get pulled in and out.
and on full turn the exhaust valve holder would actually lift out of the oval casting seat about 2 or 3 mm,
now on reassembly that dosent happen ?
i thought i had put the main valve lever in upside down but it fowls on the cap head screw that way so thats not correct.
i have the shop manual but the pics are not clear (my fault for not taking pics )
i have just noticed 2 threaded holes in the cylinder above the valve holder these were empty but i think there should be 2 5mm bolts with washers in there.(part 130 on bike bandit)

I will post pics later but errands to run,

thanks in advance mark
she might be older but still a fun ride.

I don’t understand this statement :
“ have the shop manual but the pics are not clear (my fault for not taking pics )”

Are you saying you have a photocopied manual?

what i meant was i should of taken pics before disassembly.

Is that your cylinder?

It looks like a non-USA cylinder with the pipe mounting flange unbolted.
