Another rear mx fender

Post by mattwalsh »

Hi all,

This is my first post. Had an old rear fender that was cracked and busted up, so I decided to try and plastic weld a spare kx 500 render.

Still need to do over the welds again with some clean off cuts however the join ended up ok considering they are totally different shapes..
The maier one is expensive shipped to Australia, so no harm trying. Also put some extra foam under the seat.

I used metal gauze on the under side join the pieces.

Melted it in by pushing a soldering iron onto the gauze and waiting for it to heat up enough to sink into the plastics, then filled the topside with off cuts.

Feels super strong. First time plastic welding two different pieces together... we will see when i hit the bush. only cost me a couple of hours and the orginal fender was a throw away..
