KDX Electric Start Kit

Post by TwistedRoot »

Have any of you guys you seen this? A buddy sent me the link. I think he might develop it for sale, not sure. The bike itself is pretty easy to kick so I personally wouldnt do it, but the guy deserves alot of credit for developing it.

It's rather simple to make if you have the proper machinery to get it done.

One thing I did think about was how is the shifting going to be on it? Hmm...

Even as easy as they are to start, I would definitly consider adding this to my KDX. More info would be appreciated.

Yeah, I would love to know what the parts were sourced from.

You can follow him on FB to see if hes planning on making them. He is not in the US apparently.

Having leg issues sometimes makes it hard to kick even the majestic KDX. This would enable me to ride more and I'm all for that.

Would someone that is on facebook mind looking for the fellow with the electric starter kit and give us an update? I don't want to start anything new like facebook. I've heard too many things not good about it, but I am very interested in the kit if they are available. Only if you are already on facebook. THANKS!!!

I don't know if its the same person or not, but I reached out to a guy on Instagram a few months back and was able to track down kits for tthe estart kit being sold in Brazil. They were being sold on the "Mecado Livre" website for like $1600 bucks (after converting to USD). I had the link bookmarked, but its no longer working. They refused to ship out of the country, but I found a co-worker there willing to buy and ship to me. I really thought about it... but, in the end...I couldn't bring myself to buy the kit for the same price I bought the bike for. Its not that hard to kick. Looks like I missed the boat now!

Thanks for the info. I'm one of those riders that does not want to quit riding but I am having right leg issues. I hate to have to get off and start with my left leg each time. It's a b___h to get old and decriped[sp]. Recovering now from a broke bone in my right ankle and already had issues with my right knee. Enough crying. I'll keep looking. Thanks again. Keep on BRAPPING!!!

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Have you considered the 2020 KLX300R with electric start?

Yes, I have. But, as you know, they are hard to find even to look at one. That mc really looks good for someone like me except for the weight, but that is something I could live with, I think. Our dealerships here in north Texas are suffering from lack of inventory. I have not even seen one in person yet. Sad situation for the industry as a whole. Heres hopeing it gets better before it gets worse. THANKS!!!

Sadly, for E-start 2T bikes you're options are limited. The KLX is a nice trail bike, but a tad heavy. You might have luck looking for a used Estart KTM or husky, though the price is going to be higher. Other options are to go 4T like a TTR230...air cooled, estart and nearly bomb proof motor, though strictly a trail bike.

Hard to give up the green machine. Been riding Kawasakis for a few decades now. Probably will be a few months before I can ride again anyway [ knee replacement], so I have time to look and decide if I will pursue the electric start route, whether it be green or other. Thanks all for the info and input. Keep on BRAPPING!!!
