Lectron Ordered!

Post by VTMTcowboy »

The title says it all. I got the email the other day stating the Lectron carb for the KDX was available again. Kind of hurt when I hit the "purchase" button, but I am pumped to finally join the club. Pics and hopefully a review will be coming soon! It is also going to hurt when I pick it up at the suspension shop LOL... My 200 is finally getting the upgrades it deserves. The 220 will have to wait a bit longer, but I did score a 02 KX 125 front end for it, so I at least got the ball rolling. Anyhow that is for another time and another thread. Right now it is all about the 200. Hope all are well and safe. Take care.

Congrats!
Did Lectron drop their prices on the KDX carb when they restocked? I swear it was $700+ before and now their site says $515.

I've only seen it for $515, which is plenty expensive! My current jetting is set for the Sierras out here in CA, but when I ride lower elevations I see how the Lectron should thrive.

Happy to hear that they're available again and that you were able to get one ordered! I'm sure you will like how it works both at sea level and up in the Sierras. I was up riding in the Rockies on Sunday and the Lectron worked great.

Yeah I am pumped. Hopefully it'll arrive next week and I'll be giving it a run over the weekend. Ill be getting my KDX back on Thursday from the suspension tuner, so it should feel like a new bike!

Good deal on the Lectron. When I looked at them a couple years ago I was reading about problems with fitment under the tank. I experimented with jetting the stock PWK and made it better but not perfect. It was just about the time RB stopped taking in carbs for mods so I ended up buying a new modded RB PWK. It runs better than my jetted one. I went RB because I test rode a 2-hunny H-basket with a RB-modded carb and head. It ran like a banshee. Nothing like I remembered my '91 200. Did not fit my riding style. My not so new '03 220 with rebuilt suspension fresh carb is perfect.

Mine arrived yesterday! I'll be fitting it up on Friday. The first ride is probably a week or so out unfortunately.

Dang, I think I just made that install harder than it should've been haha. It took about 5 minutes to get the old carb and throttle cable out and about an hour of struggling to get the Lectron in. It sure is a tight fit, especially the clearance of the throttle cable to the gas tank. But the throttle is smooth and snaps back quickly, so I don't think there should be any issues. I used the Barnett cable that was supplied and kept playing around with the adjustment a lot. I think I got it where I need it, but if anybody has pictures of their Lectrons with the Barnett cables, specially photos of both adjustments points (at the throttle and mid throttle) I'd like to see for comparison. I don't like a lot of free play, so mine are adjusted pretty far out.

The only part that wouldn't transfer over was the bolt for the air boot clamp wouldn't work because it is too short. I'll just have to get something 1/8"-1/4" longer and this project will be fully completed. I did start it up and adjust the idle screw a touch, but it ran awesome. Very crisp here at basically sea level. Last thing of note is that the choke is also tucked up in there pretty well, so getting my big mitts in there is a bit of a challenge. Can't wait to truly test it out.

Post up any fitment challenges and adjustments if you'd like.

My throttle cable is also right under the tank, but it still works fine. I think I also have the Barnett cable since it came with the Lectron, and I have it adjusted almost all the way out so that there's very little play (pic attached). I wish that it didn't have to be adjusted that far out, but I've been running it this way for about a year now with no issues. Let us know how your carb works when you get your boot clamp secured. I'm sure you're going to love it! :supz:

Thanks for the pick GATOROC! That's exactly how my cable adjustment looks as well.

For the boot clamp, I just need to get over to ACE hardware and pick one up. Hopefully on Monday or Tuesday of this coming week I'll get out riding and be able to report back!

For sure! I've read nothing but good things about the Lectron on 2-strokes in general, but more specifically a lot of positive reviews on KDX, so I do not expect to be disappointed. I mean, realistically, any day on the KDX is awesome.
