Hey all!
Just moved back into the country and drug my '97 KDX220 out of storage. Time for a freshen up and I want to get some more top end out of her.
When I stowed it away in 2015, I was under the impression that my best carb options were either an RB Designs mod, Lectron, or possibly a Smartcarb.
Due to cost and fitment issues, a Smartcarb or Lectron is out of the question.
Also, it doesn't appear Ron is taking any more work/
What does that leave me with? An AirStriker or a factory KDX200 carb?
That feels about where I'm at with it. I'm itching to pull a bit more top end out of the bike.
Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

Re: KDX220R carb options
Ron will sell you a new OEM carb modified to his specs but has stopped modifying old carbs. I went with that option and am very pleased on my ‘99 220.

Re: KDX220R carb options
I say go with either a new 35 or 35 air striker, genuine Keihin of course, not the $60 ebay special. Since you're after more up top, I highly recommend the FMF rev pipe if it doesn't already have one. The 35AS and the rev pipe was just what my 220 needed.

Re: KDX220R carb options
Get a new RB modded carb, get the squish corrected, and add the FMF desert pipe. I have all of these on my 220 and they do help the top end a lot. If you're really ambitious, add an adjustable ignition. Had one of Jaguar's older adjustable ignitions and it made a very noticeable difference throughout the entire rev range. Sadly, it died so I'm building my own to replace it.

Re: KDX220R carb options
Thanks for the replies!
I emailed with Ron a bit and will be getting a new carb. Sending him my head today.
SS109, I read your thread about the Jaguar CDI. Too bad he's not making them anymore. As long as the price wasn't too gosh awful high, it sounds like a fun part to try out.

Re: KDX220R carb options
I think he is still making them but he has changed them a bit (not quite as adjustable, smaller, already terminated connections) and the price is now $199 + $31 shipping. http://www.dragonfly75.com/moto/KDXCDI.html The older CDI version I had really made a difference and I miss the extra power and over rev.el caballo loco wrote: ↑12:55 pm May 08 2020 SS109, I read your thread about the Jaguar CDI. I just updated (finally) my original post on this CDI ignition.
