220 carb boot

Post by patreilly »

My 02 220 needs a new carb boot. I bought a cable by Moose. It has a boot that only covers the adjuster nut. Is there a source for just the rubber boot?

220 carb boot

As far as I know, you just have to get an OEM cable to get the right size boot. I got a replacement aftermarket cable for mine and the boot was twice the size around and pretty much useless (and the only reason I was replacing it was due to a cracked boot). My buddy Scott went through 2 (different brand) aftermarket cables on his 06 KX-250 and both also had the same huge boot that mine had. He finally ordered an OEM cable and it fit perfect

If you're talking about the small rubber boot at the end of the throttle cable where it enters the top of the carb, then yes, the only way to get the correct size one is OEM. That being said, I'm sure something could be used in it's place such as heat shrink tubing, tape, etc.

OOOOOH G22, Thanks for the suggestion of heat shrink tube. I have just about every size of that stuff. I'm headed for the barn right now.

Hi Pat

Were you successful? Could you possibly share a Pic of the outcome? I have the same problem
