Has anyone here road trails in Moab Utah? I've been told, it is a must see.

I'm trying to plan a family trip next year and hoping someone can provide a little insight as to where to go. We live in South Louisiana and typically do woods riding on dirt bikes. Utah is going to be a long haul but the pictures that I have seen are absolutely beautiful!

Again I looking for advice on which trails to ride and what's the best time of the year to plan a trip. P.S. Our bikes are not street legal. I noticed several trails there require street legal bikes?

YUP... there are several thousand miles of open trails in Utah. I stayed a couple days in MOAB last summer. Rented ATV's one day and rode about 70 miles of trails with an escorted group. Then went to the Arches National Park ( another must see...) Go... ride your a$$ off... before the greenies take it away. Most trails do not require license plates but you may have to get an offroad sticker or permit.
Several places to stay in MOAB. Great places to eat ( ask the locals ..)

If going to utah from the east stop in grand junction. You will see huge riding area right off I-70 by the airport. The trails here go all the way into utah. Thousands of miles and some really techinical dune riding. Have fun!!

I went to Moab several years ago and met some friends there from other areas of the country we stayed five days and rode all day every day and never crossed the same trail. You can actually ride into the arches park and see them from your bike. We rented some KTMs to ride and flew in. You can ride any type of terrain you want from that location, rocks single track woods desert just pick a direction to ride and go. We just bought a map locally and rode ourselves. There are guys that hire out as guides.

I lived there for 17 years and rode about all there was to ride then---but that's been 30 years ago and though I live only 120 miles away I don't go back there much to ride now--The trails and single track are rocky and a little too punishing for my old bones----but for a young guy---yes---some of the best and most scenic country in the country. Stop in at any of the bike shops there and they can direct you to some of the most popular trails. Sometimes though you just need to get out there and follow your nose- You won't have any problem finding trails to ride.

My son and I fly out in the morning for Grand Junction. Riding with an outfit called Elite Motorcycle Tours. Doing a 3 day point to point guided ride to Moab Utah and back. I'm fired up!!!!

rQuestion----was that a 'Dale Parriot' tour? Seeing the KTM's made me think so. I remember Dale from my days living in Moab---and I would not be surprised to hear that he conducts the best riding tours in the country for serious riders.

We had breakfast with Dale the second day of the ride in Moab. As I understand it, Dale started Elite Motorcycle Tours over 17 years ago. He was not one of the guides on our private 2 rider tour. I'm not even a beginner compared to Dale. He also seemed liked a pretty nice guy at breakfast. I believe he still owns the tour company but is in the process of selling it to Darren Petersen. Darren was our guide two of the 3 days we rode. Experienced rider and great guide.
