I'll be there (KDX220 Hybrid) with my son (either KLX300 or RMX250 if I finish it in time) and maybe my dad (93 KDX200). Not racing this year per Dr.s orders (he said no racing, not no riding  ). Probably just drive over for Saturday. Should be wet and fast this year with all the snow and rain we've had.

I'll be there with my son Saturday and Sunday. He will be on his '86 KDX 200 if I get the rebore and piston done in time, waiting on the piston arriving any day now, I will be on my '82 CR 480, it only gets out once a year and that's at Odessa. Always fun out there.

I've got my eye on the weather for sure. I've never rode desert, but dust. A little rain would be great right? I've never done a race this long.

Be looking for me guys, a KX with kdxrider.net front fender decal.

anyone have a .GPX of any of the runs from years past?

Just be ready for cold weather, even if the sun is out once you drop down into the canyons it gets chilly. And the creek is probably running really high and really cold.

The weather was really nice, a bit chilly in the AM. What kept my mind off of the weather was lining up at start with 400-500 other people :supz:

It was absolute insanity. I've never seen so many people crash, my god. After getting bumped off the trail a couple times I stood my ground and took a few people out myself mainly out of self preservation, but some competitive spirit also. Take that!

By 25mile mark on 1st lap there were broken bikes and people all over, a literal battlefield.

The mudholes. First of, traction with the battlecross x30@15 psi was really really good. But the mudholes, which I went around, were
claiming whole bikes. Let me tell you that by ending up in the middle of the big ones, your day is done. It was this clay crap that took tremendous amount of power to get through. Pick the wrong line and there was no getting through. I watched dude on some big 4 stroke haul ass into one, he made it 30 feet and flew over the bars.

Overall the terrain was very very whooped out, baby head bolders, rock gardens, a few good hill climbs, and the dirt was great most likely because of recent rains. In its totality, this race was very challenging.

I'm going back next year :boogie:

Yeah, the mudholes were insane! Saturday I followed a guy down the wrong line right into one...30 minutes later three of us got the bike out. Figured out if an area was flat with no rocks or sage, don't ride there! There were literally bikes left abandoned in some of the bigger holes lol. Best traction we've had for this event in a couple years, nice to do be breathing dust for a change.

Sunday's race was fun, but I was only doing the 50 mile. Got stuck in one mud hole after taking the same line as a guy on a Suzuki, he cleared it, me not so much, but was out in about 20 minutes.
Poker Run on Saturday was a pain, bike was having fuelling issues.
We will be back next year, it's a blast, good and bad stuff included.
