Guided Trail Ride - Near Madison, WI

Post by KDXFronz »

I came across this group ride and thought it would be a fun end of the season ride.

Guided Trail Ride (not race)

Objective & Introduction: Dan Fargen, ride landowner and long time off road enthusiast including dirt bike, ATV and snowmobile riding with memberships in local recreational clubs. Looking to put on quality, well-organized trail rides for others, including landowners, to enjoy while respecting private land ownership. Want everyone to be able to ride, so keeping trail difficulty to a minimum but very scenic and interesting.

What: Guided trail ride (not race). Limited to 100 machines plus guides and participating landowners. One guide per 10-12 machines roughly, with slow to fast option (guides will set the pace). One day trail use only. Will consist of a 20-30 mile loop, you may ride 1, 2 or 3 loops - time permitting (same price). Helmets and eye protection highly recommended. Helmets are required for anyone under 18 years of age. Adults without helmets must ride in slowest group (no exceptions). Non-alcoholic ride.

Where: Middleton, WI (10 miles west of Madison) 3 miles West of Highway 12 on County Highway K.

Machines: ATV, UTV (side by sides), off road motorcycles (100% off-road ride).

When: Saturday, November 6, 2010

Timeline:
8:00 - 9:45 and 12:00 - 12:45 Sign-up
9:45 Riders Meeting
10:00 Ride Starts (Loop 1)
12:00 - 1:00 Tentative lunch available for additional cost by local group
12:45 Riders Meeting for new afternoon riders
1:00 Ride Starts (Loop 2)

Cost:
$30 per adult machine
$20 children with guardian (must ride in same group and must be 12 or older to ride own machine).
$10 Passenger (under 12 free)

Note:

As always, “Ride landowners ride for FREE”. (When using their land on ride day--includes children under 18 and older children if working full-time on farm and full-time hired help on farm.) Participating ride landowners (not using their land on ride day) or adult children of ride landowners receive a reduced rate of $20, $10 & $5, respectively.

ATV riders born after 12/31/1987 must have an ATV Safety Certificate to ride on someone else’s property. (See DNR Website)

Rain date will be Sunday (next day) weather permitting. Will confirm that ride is on after 3:00pm the Friday prior to the scheduled ride (by phone).

Pre-registration deadline (by phone or e-mail, must include contact phone number if done by e-mail) is the Monday before scheduled ride (need count for lunch and guides needed for ride). We will hold your spot until one hour prior to start of ride if not pre-paid. Can register onsite the day of the ride. Ride is limited to 100 machines plus participating landowners and guides. There will be a maximum of four reservations per individual when pre-registering.

Bring gas can and machine full of gas if riding more than one loop.

Contact Dan Fargen at (608) 445-8228 or e-mail (ddkj@tds.net) with questions or if you are interested in participating in or helping with one of the rides. You can call after 7:00am and up until 10:00pm. Please include a contact phone number in e-mail messages.
