not really a kdx question

Post by 89kdx200rdr »

but someone here should know and i trust you guys. whats the difference in a chrome composite plated cylinder and the electrofusion cylinder? reason i ask is i bought a wiseco piston kit for the kx and i was looking at the rings and it said "DO NOT USE in chrome plated cylinders" . is that like the same kind of chrome thats on wheels and trailer hitches theyre referring to? the finish of the bore of the cylinder of the kx looks the same as the kdx.

Same process (plated), different material.

Not all materials 'fit' or 'mate' with all others. Hence the warning 'Do not use in a chrome plated cylinder'. They wouldn't seat correctly.

I don't know what kind of rings ARE supposed to go into chrome plated cylinders. Maybe chrome?

i called wiseco today and they said the rings would be fine in the chrome composite plated cylinder. the warning was for older chrome plated cylinders. surely if they were causing problems i would have found something on it when i searched the drn forums.
