Parts breakdown lists it as a 4mm x 8mm long, so metric hex key, make sure to always clean the hex socket out with a awl or something pointy so you get full depth with the key, sometimes you can force a torx bit in if it is stripped. Make sure to hit it with lots of heat, propane torch should work to get it nice and hot as usually they are loctited..

Congrats, that's a clean looking bike.. :bravo:

it won't be that tight, its just a small allen bolt, even just use a set of vice grips or a pair of pliers with curved serrated teeth

You have to make sure the hole is cleaned out very well and that your hex key isn't rounded off any. That is one of those OEM "butter" screws (as in, it must be made out of butter ) worst case heat and an impact wrench.

Did you try tapping on it lightly with a punch?

It was really in there, took it to a moto shop and they even said it took more effort than they expected. Was a cheap bill so glad I didn't keep cranking on it.

Well f*** me, I was excited to get this thing back together and assembling the kips the threads stripped out on the cylinder head. Didn't even crank on it, was using a 1/4 ratchet trying to seat them all the way down and just felt them rip out... Now what?

Be aware they are usually taper(pilot) taps included in the heli-coil kits and to get the full depth for the heli-coil insert you will have to modify the tap as JZ05220r did in his post for the blind hole.

While you have the motor down to the kips you might look at kdxdazz post for eliminating some of the kips rattle, he posts some very good
videos. :bravo:
