When I rotated the water pump shaft by hand I noticed it’s a little squeaky. I never had an issue with the water pump seal but just wanted to see what you all think anyway. Its probably fine. When I rotate it faster it starts to feel smooth and less squeaky.

Did you put any liquid on the seal's carbon / ceramic contact faces? These surfaces are where the rotating / stationary sealing take place and are lubricated with the engine coolant. If they spin dry they can fail.

Very similar mechanical shaft seals are used in the pumps I sell and repair. My SOP for shaft seal assembly is to put a tiny droplet of 3 in 1 oil or similar on these contact faces so the seal doesn't run dry at start up.

I wasn’t actually replacing it I just had the cover off. I sprayed some brake clean to clean up and gasket material I had scraped off. I then sprayed some oil spray all over the water pump area inside the cover.

Not shown in the video but when I spin if much faster it doesn’t make any noise and it is much smoother. https://youtube.com/shorts/brogaHfHtYI?feature=share
