Athena 220 kit on a 200 question

Post by lucy »

A local bike has replaced the 200 cc top end with an Athena 220 cc top end.

Does anyone have any experience with this change? How does it run? I used a 240 cc kit on an '85 200 and we could never get it jetted right.

What differences are there between the 200 and 220? The carb was bigger on the 200...anything else that might affect performance?

I would assume that bottom end would be affected...somehow by the larger carb and the top end would be affected by the bigger carb. Wow! That was quite a deduction...wasn't it?

Hmm, not familiar with that kit. I would assume it's just a 220 cylinder on a 200 bottom end which, of course, is the same as the factory 220. The bigger carb on the 220 is the only way to go IMO as it helps the top end considerably. No problems jetting my 220 with an RB PWK 35 carb bored out to 36mm.
