Bottom End/Transmission Reassembly

Post by Ecarta »

Fellow KDXers:
I would like advice, pointers or tips on reassembling the bottom end on my 2004 KDX200.
More specifically, How do I reassemble the transmission making sure it is in the NEUTRAL position? Like what orientation does the shift drum needs to be in?
Also what's the best procedure to seal the crankcase halfs? Last year I had excess smoke on startup. A friend said it could be seals OR incorrect sealing of the cases. I corrected the seal problem. Now I wanna be sure this step is done correctly.

Thanks!

Did you ever get this resolved? I see the post is a couple months old and unanswered. A Cyclepedia manual is your best friend, you should own one if you don't already.

There are a lot of different case sealers, ThreeBond 1211 or 1211B or 1207B are two that I have used heavily on four stroke street bikes.
I'll be splitting 1 of my 3 KDX crankcases here pretty soon, maybe 2 of 'em, so I'll be checking out what is most recommended as well.

I use YamaBond4 which is rebranded Threebond 1215 or 1211, whichever I have on hand at the time. Dont use Yamabond6 its for exhaust pipe sealing
