Hello fellow KDXers:
Question: Do I need to lube the crankshaft before installing into the bearing in the right hand case?
I just installed it without lube and am wondering if I need to press out the crankshaft and start over.
Thanks!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but is that the inner lip of the seal folded out at the 12-1 o clock position ? Will have to remove the crank to see if the seal spring is still on, most often they pop out of the grove when this happens..

Yes, that happens quite often, the pin near the end of the crankshaft hangs up on the inner lip of the seal and folds it under. You should remove that pin before pressing in the crank, but regardless you need to press it back out and verify the seal spring is still in place as Jimmy pointed out.

No, you don't need to lube the crank going in to the bearing. Yes, you need to press it back out to fix that crank seal.

Also that top bearing looks like it's in the recess a little squint. Might want to just double check that it's seated in all the way.

Might be just the photo but looks like you have packed the bearings with grease and it's cover in dust, not normal engine building practice, no grease needed, crankshaft just needs a smear of oil to slide in the bearing, seals need to be lubed well before install, meaning the inside seal lips and remember to put some oil 2 stroke oil in the crankcase for initial start up
