E series triple clamps on H model.
I have a nice set of triple clamps off my 220 e series after doing a fork swap. I am restoring an h model and I want to press out the stem off the h series lower triple and press it in the e series triple. I basically am asking if the h series stem will press into the e series lower triple. Will this work out fine? I checked and they are the same distance from clamp to clamp so that checks out. Thanks

No, the later stem of 1997+? is about 7 thousandths thinner

I've never seen an E model (back bone frame) that was originally a 220. Both E model (back bone frame) and H model (perimeter frame) came with 200 engines but 220 only came with a perimeter frame, beginning in 1997 AFIK.
Is yours a bored out 200 or maybe someone put a later 220 engine in an E series frame?

I had a problem with typos yesterday. I meant 200 E series. Thankspumpguy wrote: ↑01:52 pm Nov 07 2022 I've never seen an E model (back bone frame) that was originally a 220. I got it wrong, too. The 1997+ stem (look up the part numbers for exact year / numbers) is the thicker one. The older stem is thinner. Some KX's are like that, too. It has been a long time since I was taking them out and measuring them. 17 years :-)
