I recently puchased a 1995 KDX that needs a full restoration. I have been out of dirt bikes since around 1991 (had a 86 KTM 125 EXC) and looking to do some casual trail riding in Northern Michigan next year once bike is completed. I have restored numerous vintage 1960's Mustangs and vintage race snowmobiles, but never a dirt bike. I don't foresee any issues restoring the frame and components but would like to find someone to go thru the engine/transmission completely, hopefully in the SE Michigan area. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks
Clay

As a start, you might discuss your goals with Jeff Fredette, FRP Racing in Beecher, Illinois. Phone 708 946 0999.
Beecher is in northeastern Illinois, only a couple hours from southwest Michigan.

^^^ I second FRP Racing. He's busy so be patient. https://www.frpoffroad.com/
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I second the Fredette recommendation. But with your experience, and a manual, this is something you should be able to do yourself. It’s really a simple engine.

Yeah, if you have the time and inclination, get the service manual and look it through. Otherwise, FRP Offroad, Jeff Fredette. He is a KDX legend.
