Full FRP engine rebuild suggestions

Post by JZ05220r »

Hey this is my first post here but I wanted to hear some suggestions for my engine build through FRP. I don’t want to completely kill the KDXs user friendly personality. I am thinking about having the carb bored, cylinder porting with the RB head. Also want to have the cylinder nikasil’d. This will go with the desert pipe. I want more top end and midrange. Will this still putt along nicely down low? Also any suggestions on which style porting to request for the cylinder? Thank you!

I'd just discuss your wants with Jeff Fredette on the phone if he is doing the build for you.

I’ll second Doakley’s suggestion. Jeff is definitely the right guy to talk to.

Jeff just finished porting my spare 220 cylinder. It is at Millenium right now getting replated with a new piston. He didn't give me a choice on porting style, he just said it would run better all though out the power band. If I was sending my engine to Jeff for a rebuild, I would just give him my charge card number & tell him to do it as he would his own engine.

When you call him on the phone, he will send you an e-mail when you need to have the part on his shelf by the date he wants.
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Hey if you got the cylinder back already, how do you like it? FRP has my entire engine being rebuilt in the shop right now btw. Thanks

Cylinder is not back yet. This is my spare cylinder. Would still expect a few more weeks. I told Jeff I was not in any hurry.
Your engine is going to run great.
