KIPS Help! Does this look right?

Post by Owyhee1 »

KDX220R- Millenium did a replate, cleaned pv. After new top end, bike won’t rev out. Removed advancer pawl and pipe, looked inside. When gear is cw, the sub valves open far enough to be seen in side ports. (See pic). I’m assuming this my problem?

Which version of Service Manual did you use? Some of the older OEM ones had the valves backwards in the reassembly. That would lead to poor top end performance

The KIPS was cleaned and reassembled by Millenium, is this what backwards looks like?

If that is what is supposed to be the fully open position then it looks like they mistimed the sub-valves. It happens.

Kdxgarage- do you agree? Are they miss-timed?
