Cylinder scratches
Took off my cylinder for a kips maintenance and notice some scratches on the piston and and few towards the top of the cylinder too bike has good compression around 130 and runs fine just don’t want the rings to hook up on the scratches or damage it even more and suggestions would be great

Re: Cylinder scratches
Sadly, looks like it needs a replate to me as well. Can you feel them with your fingernail? If so, replate time. If not, I would clean the bore with a red scotchbrite pad and recheck how it feels. If you still can't feel them then you are good to go.
A standard replate should be around $220 through Millenium. While there just go ahead and buy the piston through them or send a new piston with it so that they will match it to the plating.
BTW, those scratches are from dirt getting in to the engine. Make sure your air filter is in good shape, properly oiled, changed/cleaned regularly, and that you're getting it seated good when reinstalling it.

Re: Cylinder scratches
Just a heads up. This time of year these shops are slammed with work. I have had a CR cylinder out for 5 weeks now and still waiting for it. The longer we get into winter the longer it will prob take so don't expect it back in less than a month!
I have used MIllenium and Powerseal USA and both do a great job. PS was a bit cheaper although they just raised their prices.

Re: Cylinder scratches
You have to remove everything from the cylinder first. KIPS, studs, coolant plug. Some shops will do that stuff but they will charge. You pay for shipping both ways. They usually contact you for payment when its done.Tiretread13 wrote: ↑11:34 am Nov 18 2021 I have a wisico piston for my bike brand new if I send the cylinder and the piston how’s the process work with shipping and stuff

Yea they said about 5 weeks but power seal said 2-3 so if I’m going to get it done I’ll probably just send it to them and it’s a little bit cheaper too , I’m surprised people send it away for that long and don’t ride in the winter
