Hi folks- I picked up a nice head for my 220 to do a head mod on and now think I may have gotten a 200 head instead.
Any ideas on a measurement I could make to find out? It's stamped 1409 in the casting.
If it is a 200 head, can it be modded for a 220? It was just a nice head so I grabbed it from a guy so I didn't need to mod my stock one.
Ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

Can it be modified? Yes. Can it be done for less money than it would cost just to wait and snag a cheap one off eBay? probably not, I think

My 220 220 factory head has 1409 stamped in it as well. The head gasket marks are identical. Hmm...No other part number.

I just gave you the part numbers above. You have a 200 head.
When buying engine parts off eBay, I always look at the pics and make sure the casting numbers align with what I'm looking for before purchasing. So many times the descriptions will be wrong.

The 220 head has a distinct dimple in the dome, both heads are marked 1409

Re: 200 vs 220 head?
I just checked my 220 also - 1409. I sent my 220 and 200 heads to RB Designs at the same time. I'm surprised he didn't notice they were both 200 heads he was machining. He sent them back marked 200 and 220. I guess I could pull both heads to see if they were machined with different dimensions. The 220 does occasionally overheat on me maybe from too high compression? I sent Ron an email hoping that he might have records as to what happened.

Re: 200 vs 220 head?
Even though my casting number is wrong, I was assured by Ron that it's OK.
"On the KDX 200’s and 220’s do have a similar casting number but the heads are machined different. The 200 head has a combustion chamber of 66mm and the 220 has a 69mm combustion chamber. If it was a 200 head on a 220, the engine would be extremely hard to start and would ping and detonate and blow up.
Thank you, Ron"
