Seat Cover Tips

For the life of me I can't seem to install a new moto seat cover on my 01 without having a bunch of wrinkles in the sharp curve between the frame and the tank. I've tried starting from the front>back and back>front and it always seems to have a bunch of slop in this area. I've watched a bunch of videos and the KDX seat seems way more "curved" than most seats so the process seems a little different here. Any tips?

Start in the curve and maybe use a little heat?

Start at the sides of the seat where the frame and tank meet (about middle of the big curve part of the seat) then work front and back from there, using heat and lots of staples.

Yep, start in the middle and work your way out to both ends. That's how I did mine on my '90. A heat gun helps to get it a bit more stretchy as well. Just heat the area you're working on, staple when happy, and move to the next area.

Thanks! I contacted moto seat and they said pull it tighter in the back. The label is supposed to be 1" from the end of the seat. That and like you say, start in the corner. It's much tighter now.

Let it sit out in the sun before you start working with it.

It was still a little loose so I let the seat heat up in the sun (with new cover installed) ,pulled the stapes in the corners by the knee then tightened that part up again. Now it looks perfect.
