Replate or hone?
Need advice, time to replate, or just hone? Seems minor to me, but not sure. Fairly low hour kdx220. (100 - 150 hours) my fingernail doesn’t ‘catch’, but I can feel it a little bit.

Re: Replate or hone?
DO NOT HONE OR BORE AN ELECTROFUSION CYLINDER.
Try to get a service manual. They have been preaching the above line since 1974 when it showed up on the KX125.
The plating looks worn above the exhaust port in the second pic. Also, there are a fair amount of lines. Did it eat a sand sandwich??

Re: Replate or hone?
Time for a replate and new piston, rings, top bearings, etc. Never attempt to hone a plated cylinder.

Now that you mention it, I do see that in the service manual. I don’t know of anything going through, I’ve always kept the filter clean. Apparently something went through, the piston has some lines on the intake side. Thanks!

Re: Replate or hone?
It looks "worn", not "damaged" to me. Hopefully, it is just a replate and then many hours of happy use.
