Main exhaust valve cover broken (center) kdx 200 1991
Hey kdxpeople!
I discovered that my valvecover was cracked in 2 pieces.
The main one over the exhaust. It can be possible to weld it back but better to buy one. The thing is i cant find it anywhere :(
Attached a pic so you can see wich one.
Anyone know where i can get one?
Cheers / Arvid

p/n is 14024-1708, but doesn't look like any of the parts houses has one in stock. You might try a local dealer and see if he can find some NOS in the network, better luck is going to be finding a cylinder head on E-bay.

You could also probably get it TIG welded by a competent shop.

Don't know how the underside is configured, but based on the outside shape, I would think even a home shop machinist could whittle out a new cover from a chunk of aluminum.

Re: Main exhaust valve cover broken (center) kdx 200 1991
I ran into the same issue as you a few days ago. My solution is probably going to get me some hate but what I did is jb weld the pieces back together, followed by making an aluminum plate which wrapped around the valve cover which I jb welded to it to add extra strength and keep the pressure even as i tightened it down. I normally wouldn't use jb but desperation breeds creativity and I had no other options at the time. I plan on having one machined at a future point in time. The picture is how it turned out after a coat of paint.

No hate here! Good thinking on how to get yourself riding again. Hell, the repair will probably last forever!corky_jr wrote: ↑10:57 pm Aug 15 2020 I ran into the same issue as you a few days ago. I'm running into a similar issue (1994 KDX 200) - can you tell me how your solution has held up? Thanks !
