Just put a jd jet kit as per recommended on my 2000 kdx 220,runs well idles down really low which tells me idle jetting is good but falls flat in high revs, when I rev it in neutral up high sounds loaded up like the choke is on,pulled the spark plug, insulater is half black half white, not sure what to make of this

What is your AS set to? As I remember the JD kits only came with mains and needles, so the pilot would need to be checked. Run through the jetting checklist and you'll have better luck than randomly changing things.

Just checked my air screw it's slightly over one turn out, also put a new jet block gasket in ,that alone made it run better

I would need to see a pic of the plug to get an idea on what's going on. I'm personally not fond of the JD jetting kits. I mean, they're a good ball park setup that will normally make your bike run ok but not as good as going through the steps to properly determine your jetting.

That said, have you followed the jetting guide to dial in your JD kit instead of using their recommendations in the instructions?

Let’s back up just a bit. Was that absolutely positively up to operating temp before you tried to rev it up? I ask because mine, along with others I know, is very cold natured. I let it warm up gently then ride it around gently to be sure it is thoroughly warm. If I don’t it breaks up like you described. When thoroughly warm it is , pardon the pun, “ready to race!”

Point being, never try to jet a bike that isn’t thoroughly up to operating temp.

It was at operating temps, all this was after about an hour and a half ride on a new plug washed the bike then idled for about 5 minutes while using a leaf blower to dry it while it was running, then revved it to clear it out
