Replacement Cones Question & Pics of Renthal Green Fatbars

Title said it all!!

Anyone have a picture of their KDX (or any other bike for that matter) with a set of the Green Renthal Fatbars (RC bend or any other for that matter) and dont mind posting me a quick picture??

Reason for asking is between Renthal and distributors sites, the bars are photographed in various lights and photo shops that they appear anywhere from neon green to dull baby-poop green with nothing else in the shot to use as a reference. Figured seeing it on a bike with some Kawi Green would give me a reference point as no shops locally carry them.

I know color is not a real attribute, but figured before i drop ~$100 on bars i would like to see what they look like so i can pick classic black or go with a bit of bling with the colored bars.

Bars came in today (gotta love that 2-day shipping standard!) and look awesome - it's somewhere in between the two extremes I saw on the stock photos and fits the look well.

While I'm in there throwing in the 28mm bar clamps I'm going to replace the old dry rotted cones. Saw some discussion about using billet vs rubber, then some comments about running stiffer KX ones or Scotts.

When looking around for the Scott's ones I can't seem to find them and only come up with their steering damper system and not sure what year KX comes match up to my 2002 H8 KDX200. Anyone know a Scott's part number for the cones or what year KX cones are 'stiffer' then the stock KDX ones?

I could not find the Scott ones either. I bought the Ride Engineering cones for Kawasaki and they did not fit, different taper and overall height. I ended up getting OEM again. Interested to know if you find stiffer set. I can put a pic up of the 2 parts side by side when I get home tonight.

I just realized when I rebuilt my bar setup with CR-Hi Fat bars, Pro Taper clamps, that I reused the original cones. I think it might make sense to replace the old cones even though they seemed in good condition. 17 year old rubber cones cant possibly have the same consistency as new and they are only $3 on RMATVMC. Thanks for reminding me Vossman!

I will post a photo of the bars when I get home... but I ended up getting the Renthal Fatbar RC Bends, but also got the 7/8ths Moose steel CR-Hi bends since they were only $20.

I like them both but the powder coat on the moose bars are a bit darker then the frame and the Renthal bars are a bit lighter, but since the moose bars are a powder coated I don't think they will cut down smooth so I'll probably go with the Renthal and keep the moose as a backup set.

If anyone finds out the Scott's damper cone part number, or what year the 'stiffer' KX cones are please let us know! Thanks Gus!!

Sorry for the delay, had issues with photo bucket. The two are the Renthal FatBars in the RC bend and the other is the Moose steel CR-Hi bends. Don’t mind the dirty shop carpet... not as easy to keep clean but a ton easier tracking down loose bolts and other tiny parts you drop hahah

Thats Awesome - i thought we had to do photobucket uploads as the site would not host image files for us like some of the older fourms... but thats awesome i dont have to go though the PhotoBucket loops going forward and can just post them directly here.

So i took a look around at ride engineering for the cones - but they dont seem to have KDX specific ones. There were some for the KX, but they dont give demensions upfront and my email has not been answered from them... so can you provide some insight on what version your using? Even though they are tad out-of-spec from the stock --> Do you run them fine and like the feel? Dont mind the control damper at the moment, but if i got more response without a ton of extra vibes that would be an awesome upgrade IMO.

Well I rolled the dice and got two sets, ride and billet Chinese ones... both are too small and offer a few mm of play when dropped into the cone bore.

Took them to my calipers and getting about .98” or 24.9mm on the wider side which leaves about .2” gap total for about 0.1” on either side.

Assume they need to be snug to avoid shifting - anyone run into that before? Think at this point I’m just going to say **** it and order some of the over priced OEM ones from my local dealer since I can’t seem to find part numbers to reference ones fit from ride engineering....

I did see in a few posts here that Honda cones are a bit stiffer without going full billet - anyone happen to know what model Honda’s would match up so I can give those a order from the dealer? My stock ones are totally shredded and falling apart hence the need to replace.

Nawww no worries - that’s the name of the game when trying to guess what will fit off internet photos and no measurements listed.

If anyone happens to know what the Honda part numbers work for the KDX200-H model though please shoot it over!!
