Boyesen 607 Fitment

Post by GATOROC »

I tried searching but couldn't find anything on this. This is my first time messing with reeds, so please be nice. I just purchased some Boyesen 607 reeds and need to know if this is how they should look. They don't match the ports on the reed block, and I'm not sure if they're intentionally designed like this, or what. Just seems weird to me.

Yes, that's normal. The 607 has a pretty wide range of reed cages that it fits, so I'm sure there are a few variances. As long as it seals off on the compression/exhaust stroke is really all that matters.

Do the new reeds match up to the old ones? How do the old ones match up to the cage? It does look a touch off in that particular picture.

I've already assembled it, but here's a pic of the old reed over top of the 607. It seems to line up ok.

And here's the 607.

Thanks for the pics. It looks good to me!

For anyone that cares and doesn't already know, look at the screw heads. Do you see the dimple at the top? That means JIS screw, so try to buy and use a JIS compliant screwdrier.

They make several awseome screwdrvers, including impact (Impacta).
