looking for shift shaft

Post by rich_d_sr »

I just started a rebuild of a 92 kdx 200. My current shift shaft is broken just outside of the case. All the usual parts sites say 'no longer available' or just ' not available '. no luck on ebay.. any ideas on where I might find one?

OEM # 13161-1170

Thanks, Rich.

Ebay and hope for a donor motor, or maybe a bike on Craigslist. Beyond that there's not much choice for these older bikes.

Man. I just looked through 900 listings. ZIP! I am surprised. Someone else on here was looking for a fuel tank yesterday. I was surprised there were none on there right now.

That part number was from 1989 - 1994. Good luck.

Maybe someone parting out an engine has one he has not listed yet. Send a message and ask.

I used an E series shifter in my H engine. So maybe try using 13161-1217.

Yeah, that would probably work now that I look at it closer. The H model piece comes with both parts (the shaft and pawl), they are separate on the E. And you can get an H one for about 40$ new

I have both shift shafts from an E and an H the one from the H is slightly shorter than the E but extends fully through the case of the E engine and I was able to mount the shift lever. I haven't put the engine in the frame yet so I don't know if it will hit anything being a bit shorter.
