What oil should I use for a 1994 Kawasaki KDX 200? And what is a good fuel/oil ratio?
I recently purchased a 1994 Kawasaki KDX 200 2 stroke. I have never owned a 2 stroke and do not know what oil would be good for it or a good fuel/oil ratio. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thx.

I've experimented and settled on Motul 710 mixed 40-1.

I run Amsoil @ 50:1
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Oh boy, the oil can-o-worms.
I always ran Maxima Castor 927 at 40:1. However, having your bike properly jetted is important when running 927. I've now switched to Lucas semi-synthetic, at the same ratio, due to easy availability from auto parts stores and the KDX, and my GasGas, seems to do well on it.
On ratios, run anything between 32:1 and 50:1, as long as the oil says it supports the ratio, and jet accordingly and stick to it. Changing ratios without changing jetting causes a poor running bike.

I agree...let the war begin over everyone's choice of oil.
My opinion...Yamalube 2R or Motul 710 (800 if you're a hardcore racer). I always used Motul but switched a while back due to what was available locally. Makes it a lot easier when I need oil and quick if the kiddos want to ride last minute and we're out of oil. I always ran 32:1 unless the oil manufacture specified their own ratio. Either way, pick something, stick with it and jet for it. Being consistent and jetted correctly is much more important.

Re: What oil should I use for a 1994 Kawasaki KDX 200? And what is a good fuel/oil ratio?
I run Motorex Cross Power 2T in my KTM at 40 - 1 - no spooge.
I run Motul in my KDX at 40 - 1 - no spooge.
I dumped the Motorex in my KDX because I'm too lazy to go buy gas to take the grand kids riding - spooge like I've never seen before.
I compared the characteristics on the two oils, and although the Motorex is higher flash point, I did.n't expect such a dramatic difference.
Not sure what I'm going to do, but I want one oil type around here. Probably Motorex at 50 - 1.

Sounds like the KDX needs to be leaned out some then. I ran super high flashpoint Castor 927 and didn't get spooge riding nasty slow singletrack. It's all in the jetting.rungrandpa wrote: ↑04:06 pm Jul 21 2019 I run Motorex Cross Power 2T in my KTM at 40 - 1 - no spooge.

+1 for Lucas, 32:1 per the manual, but I'll probably start going 40:1 after I break in my new top end.SS109 wrote: ↑04:27 pm Mar 11 2019 Oh boy, the oil can-o-worms.
